"This recipe comes from the Sugarbush Farm Cookbook I purchased on my VT visit. The recipe is credited to Mary Dwight of Cornish, New Hampshire. There were no instructions on how to make the frosting, so winged it for that part."
Stir together dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Add beaten eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, stirring until well combined. Add boiling water and stir until incorporated. Batter should be thin at this point!
Pour into greased cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
Cool before frosting.
TO MAKE FROSTING: Stir together all frosting ingredients in a bowl until creamy and spreadable. Spread on cooled cake and smooth with table knife or frosting spreader.
