I like the other review do not own a coddler and decided to do this is a ramekin, following the directions as for the coddler. I did not use the ham, but the egg yolk came out well overcooked at 8 minutes. So I tried this again for only 5 minutes using a lower heat and the yolk was still overcooked. I will be making this again, maybe this time in just boiling water with the heat turned to the lowest. I really did enjoy the flavours, so I am also going to try and find out where I can buy a coddler from, as I think I would really love the recipe made in a coddler.

I decided I needed two eggs this morning so doubled the recipe and as I do not possess a coddler I improvised and buttered two small ramekins and made as per recipe and then covered the ramekins with alfoil and placed in a frypan and poured some boiling water to come up half way up the ramekins and simmered with a lid on for 8 minutes, next time I will check at 5 or 6 minutes as mine were well done and I prefer a runny yolk but the tasted delicious and made for a very enjoyable breakfast, thank you ellie, made for Alphabet Soup tag game.
