"This is from Fresh TV cooking show and is delicious. I did modify in that I subbed spring onion for 1 stick celery (finely chopped) and used sweet chilli sauce instead of sweet chilli and tamarind sauce. Timing is based on the prawns being cooked and peeled."

  • When selecting the mayonnaise, be sure to choose a good quality mayonnaise to ensure the best flavor.
  • If possible, buy pre-cooked and peeled shrimp to save time when making this dish.

  • Substitute celery for spring onion - Celery has a milder flavor than spring onion, so using it instead will provide a more subtle flavor that won't overpower the dish.
  • Substitute sweet chilli and tamarind sauce for sweet chilli sauce - The combination of sweet chilli and tamarind sauce will provide a more complex flavor profile than just using sweet chilli sauce alone, which will add an extra depth of flavor to the dish.

Lemony Dill Prawn Rolls Replace the sweet chilli sauce with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of fresh dill. Omit the spring onion and replace with 1 tablespoon of finely chopped fresh chives.

Roasted Sweet Potato Wedges - Roasted sweet potato wedges are a great accompaniment to the classic fresh prawn rolls. The sweetness of the potatoes contrasts nicely with the savory flavors of the prawn rolls, and the crunchy texture of the roasted potatoes is a delicious contrast to the soft texture of the prawns. This dish is also healthy and easy to prepare, making it the perfect side dish.

Spicy Cucumber Salad: Spicy cucumber salad is a great accompaniment to the fresh prawn rolls. The cool, crisp cucumbers balance out the spicy flavors of the prawn rolls, while the heat of the chili peppers adds an extra kick of flavor. This salad is also light and refreshing, making it a great way to round out the meal. Plus, it's easy to make and can be prepared ahead of time.

FAQ

Q: How do I prepare the prawns?

A: The prawns should be cooked and peeled before being added to the recipe. After they have been cooked and peeled, they can be combined with the other ingredients and filled into the bread buns.

Q: How long should I cook the prawns?

A: The prawns should be cooked for about 5 minutes or until they are pink and opaque. They should be cooked until they are just done so they don't become rubbery.
