Step 1

Thoroughly mix sugar, cornstarch and salt in a saucepan.

Step 2

Stir milk into egg yolks and mix well. Add chocolate.

Step 3

Gradually stir egg mixture into dry ingredients.

Step 4

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute .

Step 5

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla .

Step 6

Cool and use to fill 8 or 9 inch cake.
