Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat the sesame oil on a frying pan over low heat. Add the shredded ginger and cook for 1 minute, then add the cooking wine, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar and star anise and allow to simmer. Add the pork to the pan and cover. Cook for 5 minutes on each side or until the pork is tender,

Step 2

Remove the pork from the pan and set aside. Allow the sauce to continue simmering until it has reduce and thickened. To serve, slice pork and place in a serving bowl. Spoon over the sauce from the frying pan and serve with rice and steam greens.

We enjoyed this meal tonight. I used cooking sherry instead of Chinese cooking wine. I didn't realize I was supposed to cut up the meat. It would have looked better. It tasted pretty awesome, anyway. We enjoyed this this while watching hockey all stars. Thanks for the recipe. :-)
