"Years ago a friend use to make these whenever my boyfriend (now DH for 34 years) would be invited to dinner. Very inexpensive and the kids loved them growing up (without the tomato). I always served them with tomato soup. Quick and easy."

I read through the other reviews and saw that they all wanted to add some extra stuff to the meat mixture, so I went ahead and added the standard stuff I add to most things (garlic salt and onion powder). I often adjust seasoning to make sure it works for my family. This was a really simple, filling lunch. I had everything in the house and I didn't need to go to the grocery store for a thing, so I wish I could give it an extra star for making my life easy this afternoon! Had this with a salad and they went well together.

I made this recipe on 11/15/17 for " Down Home Comfort " and the " Alphabet Soup Tag " games. After reading the review by twissis, I decided to add a bit of onion to the meat as it was browning. I also added a small amount of garlic powder. Instead of using the Hamburger buns, I used slices of toasted garlic bread. When I was reading the recipe,I thought Hmmm, interesting, but it was better than I expected it to be. Thanks for posting a recipe that WILL be made again. " Keep Smiling :) "

Made for the 1st Time Tag Game @ FF&F. I know the emphasis here is on cheese, but we found this meat mixture in need of extra flavor. To that end, I added several cloves of roasted garlic for its mellow flavor plus about 2 tbsp of brown sugar for just a hint of the sweetness of classic SJ's. I used a shredded mix of white cheddar & mozzarella called "pizza cheese" here in Iceland. Your CJ's were served w/mashed potatoes & made for an easy-fix & tasty meal. Thx for sharing the recipe w/us.
