Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a baking dish or casserole, 2 quart size.

Step 2

Peel squash, clean out the insides and cut into quarters. Slice the quarters into pieces about 1/2 inch thick. Set aside.

Step 3

Peel and core the pears and slice into pieces about the same thickness as squash.

Step 4

Alternate squash and pears in casserole, approximately 3 layers. Sprinkle with almonds, then the brown sugar; each layer and finally, dot the top of the casserole with the butter.

Step 5

Bake, uncovered, for approximately 35 minutes, until the squash is tender and cooked through.
