"A hamburger & vegetables stew, with a slightly spicy tomato broth. This is completely customizable, using whatever canned beans or frozen veggies you have in the house. If you want this more like a soup, with more broth, omit the tomato paste (it adds a rich tomato flavor but also helps thicken the broth). This can be made in a slow cooker -- follow the instructions through "Add garlic..." and then add everything except the hot sauce, salt and pepper into a crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-6 hours. (NOTE: Tisme's Bread Sticks (Grissini) is the perfect bread stick to dunk into this stew! https://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/bread-sticks-grissini-28191 )"

Step 1

In a soup pot, brown hamburger; drain grease, if necessary.

Step 2

Add onion, bell pepper, jalapeno and celery. Cook until vegetables start to get tender.

Add garlic, cook until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the rest of the ingredients (except hot sauce, salt & pepper); simmer for an hour or so.

Step 5

Adjust seasoning and spiciness with hot sauce, salt and pepper, to taste. (Can put hot sauce, salt & pepper on the table, so each person can season their own stew.)
