"This is really good but leftovers are even better the next day. The amounts of onion, celery, carrots, meat, etc. don't need to be exact"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat; add chopped onion; Cook until translucent, then add the celery and carrot and garlic; cook for 2 minutes more.

Step 2

Add the ground beef, salt, and pepper; cook until meat is browned, 15 minutes. Add cream, simmer over medium-low heat stirring frequently, until it has reduced by about half.

Step 3

Add nutmeg and stir (no more than 1/8 teaspoon).

Step 4

Add the wine, let it simmer until it’s evaporated, then add the tomatoes and stir thoroughly to coat all the ingredients. Bring to a light boil.

Step 5

When the tomatoes begin to bubble, turn the heat down so the sauce cooks at the lowest of simmers (just a little bubble here and there).

Step 6

Simmer over very low heat for 3 hours, tasting and seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed, if sauce seems dry add in more water during cooking.

Step 7

Serve over hot cooked spaghetti or pasta of your choice (I like spaghetti), top with Parmesan cheese and a small amount of parsley.

This is my first time making Bolognese Sauce but it won't be my last! It was delicious and really full of flavors we loved. I loved all the vegetables in it! We had it over linguine and I will try another pasta next time. One that catches all the sauce in the pasta!

Loved this sauce. Served this over vegetable spaghetti squash, at our house spaghetti squash is right up there with the pastas! Delicious. Looking forward to using this with pasta as well. Thank you for a great weekend meal and one that will see to repeats.
