"This is out of the WW cookbook called "15-Minute Cookbook" dated 1998. I have it marked as being really good! It's a quick and easy dish to prepare. I have just used chopped onion in place of the frozen. If you do use the frozen make sure to drain well so gravy isn't watered down. This had 5 points on the old program. Hope you enjoy."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Combine first 3 ingredients; stir well. Shape meat mixture into 4 equal patties, 1/4 inch thick.

Step 2

Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray; place over medium-high heat until hot. Place patties in skillet, and cook 5 minutes on each side or until done.

Step 3

While patties cook, thaw onion by placing in a strainer or colander under warm running water. (I just chop up fresh, about 2 1/2 cups). Drain well.

Step 4

Transfer patties to a serving platter, and keep warm.

Step 5

Add onion, sugar, and vinegar to skillet; cook 4 minutes over medium heat or until onion mixture is slightly thickened.

Step 6

Pour onion mixture over patties, and serve immediately.

I absolutely love meals like this as they never go out of vogue! Good ole country goodness comes to mind, but the results will impress Royalty. Followed as directed, except for taking the liberty in seasoning both sides of the patties with some Montreal seasoning before cooking. Loved the vinegared onions, bringing the patties over the top good! We had them on their own and some had them as burgers - so very good either way. Thank you, Teresa, for sharing.

KATO BABY

I made this as written but used fresh sweet onions. I love a simple recipe, they often taste the best and this one certainly does not disappoint. It was so so good. Thanks for sharing another wonderful comfort dish Teresa. Into my keeper box it goes.

Hubby gets me aged balsamic from a little specialty store we have and it is so good I could drink it out of the bottle so thought it would be great for this recipe. I used a fresh large onion and added less sugar so more of the sour flavor shined thru. The burgers were wonderful and a lot nicer then just adding a regular slice of onion on top. Might add some rough chopped mushrooms next time for the hubby. Made and reviewed for the recipe tag game For Your Consideration.

Good burgers. I also chopped my own onions -- one large onion in a food processor. Served with fruit salad and chips. Thanks for sharing!
