Step by Step Method
Step 1
Wash potatoes and put them in heavy pot.
Step 2
Cut butter into a few chunks and place over potatoes.
Step 3
Cover and cook at a good simmer for one hour.

Barbara said you aren't allowed to remove the lid, but I usually stir it a couple of times.
