This recipe has seen to many makings at our house, always well received and has had many recipe requests. You may make this in a casserole or a small roaster but best is the old fashioned bean pot."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a large bowl cover beans with water, soak overnight, drain
Step 2
Place beans in a large pot, add 6 cups of fresh water, bring to boil then simmer for 40 minutes, let stand for 1 1/2 hours, drain reserving 1 1/2 cups of the liquid, place beans in 2 quart bean pot or casserole
Step 3
In medium bowl add the 1 12 cups of liquid, onion soup mix, brown sugar, light molasses, pork, prepared mustard and catsup, mix and pour over beans cover with lid
Step 4
Bake beans in a pre heated 250 oven for 7 – 8 hours or 350 for 3-4 hours, check occassionally, adding more water if needed, when almost done uncover cook until beans are soft
