"An old recipe which works well. Use large size apples of almost any variety (except for red delicious). Served warm with vanilla ice cream. One serving is 1/2 to 1 apple ."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350F.
Step 2
Spray a 13" x 9" pan with non-stick spray-set aside.
Step 3
Mix together the brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon, melted butter, salt and vanilla.
Step 4
Place the apples in the pan, pour 1/6 the sugar/raisin mixture into each apple then pour the soda over the apples.
Step 5
Bake for 1 to 1/2 hours , basting every 15 minutes ( until the apples are soft).
Step 6
Serve warm; 1/2 to 1 apple, along with raisins and syrup - with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
