WHAT'S FOR DINNER - DECEMBER 2013

Post by Kchurchill5 » Fri Nov 29, 2013 9:13 am

Only 25 Days Till Xmas - Can you believe it is December already?

I just got used to writing 2013 ... soon, it will be 2014 !
It's time to post your 'yummy' dinner plans.
------------------------------------------------------
My poker friends are having another TG. They worked on Thursday, so this is their dinner. Classics with a twist. Late afternoon, early dinner.

Fried turkey w/gravy (making it from turkey legs); cajun baked ham, spicy corn bread stuffing with sausage; mashed sweet potatoes w/pecan crust; kale and brussels sprouts salad; mustard and maple glazed carrots; cranberry sauce with jalapenos; apple, pear, blue cheese, and walnut salad; biscuits; pumpkin egg nog and ginger parfaits, apple pie, and buttermilk pie. Lots of beer, wine, and spiced cider.

FYI, we are all making a dish, so NO ONE gets stuck with all the work.

I'm making the pumpkin/egg nog and ginger parfaits, but also bringing the paper plates, napkins, dinnerware etc. I got a great Black Friday Sale on TG stuff leftover. They don't all match, but no one will care; and they were cheap!!

Felix and Deepster ... glad the snow is melting, and temps warming up a bit. It's looks like another storm coming in this week for those in the north.

Tonight I'm doing #recipe4722 over whole wheat rotini with some fake crab meat mixed in. And maybe some peas. I seem to have six bags of frozen peas and I don't know why. Probably some sliced beets or maybe French-style green beans on the side (depends on if I put peas in the sauce of not).

Shapeweaver, I think I'd like to eat at your house instead, though. :D

Shapes, sounds like a TG feast once again. Felix sounds good. I love peas, so I vote for those.

Already went to the guys house. Decorations are up; they are big into that. Everyone is stopping over sometime during the day cooking. I'm done with mine. I'm out to do lights, garden, before I head back over.

Gosh, from the looks of things, I'd like an invite to anybody's house ;) ;) I haven't been to the grocery in the past two weeks, so the cupboard is getting kinda bare. Tonight, I'll MW a baked potato and serve with sour cream, cheese and chili. It's even "canned" chili that I'm borrowing from my winter emergency stash :( :( But, at least I ain't starving. I still have eggs, bacon, sweet potatoes, frozen B. sprouts, plenty of cheeses and crackers....actually, there's no chance of me starving. There's really plenty of "stuff" here. The question is, "do I want to eat it"....  I have a pretty hefty grocery list for this week, though.

Felix, I do love your "coup" at Checkers....right on with those fries!!!!

Morning Gang!

Deepster nothing wrong with the baked spud; sounds good to me.

Well, our Poker Turkey Feast was delish. And, I got to bring home some turkey. Lots of fun, TOO much wine; and way too much food. The poker was fun too. Extra turkey, in the freezer.

Today ... I think I need to eat a bit healthier after all the carbs and rich food.

Ladies #1 and #2: Families still in town, I think they leave tomorrow.

Me, I have some salmon and white rice in the freezer, so I think something light. I'd like to do a Asian citrus marinade; the rice, sort of the same flavor. I have some green beans, scallions, cilantro, lime, oranges, and sesame oil; and, of course plenty of salad stuff. So, use your imagination.

My other option, a white wine lemon dill sauce; mushroom rice; and lemony green beans.
Either or!
