  • For the cream cheese, use a block of cream cheese instead of pre-packaged cream cheese in a tub.
  • When selecting the shrimp, opt for peeled and deveined shrimp for convenience.

  • Instead of cream cheese, use Greek yogurt for a lighter chowder. The benefit of this substitution is that it reduces the amount of fat and calories in the dish, while still providing a creamy texture.
  • Instead of bacon bits, use cooked and crumbled turkey bacon. The benefit of this substitution is that it reduces the amount of fat and cholesterol in the dish, while still adding a smoky flavor.

Vegan Shrimp Chowder Replace butter with vegan margarine, cream cheese with vegan cream cheese, half and half with coconut milk, chicken stock with vegetable stock, bacon bits with vegan bacon bits, and shrimp with vegan shrimp.

Garlic Bread - This classic side dish will complement the rich flavors of the shrimp chowder. The garlic bread will add a nice crunch to the meal and will help to balance out the creamy texture of the chowder.

Coleslaw: Coleslaw is a great accompaniment to the shrimp chowder. It has a light and crunchy texture that will provide a nice contrast to the creamy soup. The acidic flavor of the coleslaw will also help to balance out the richness of the chowder.

FAQ

Q: How long do I need to cook the potatoes for?

A: The potatoes should be cooked until just tender, about 10-15 minutes. However, the exact time will depend on the size and type of potatoes you are using.

Q: What is the best way to store potatoes?

A: Potatoes should be stored in a cool, dark, and dry place. Avoid storing them in the refrigerator as this can cause them to develop a sweet taste. Additionally, they should be stored in a paper bag or a mesh bag to allow for air circulation.
