Step by Step Method
Step 1
Proof yeast in warm water.
Step 2
Scald milk and add shortening, cool down.

Add to yeast along with orange juice and zest.

Add eggs, salt and mix.

Add flour and mix.

Cover and let rise until double (20 minutes).

Punch down.

Knead on a floured board for 5 minutes.

Place in greased bowl rolling until top is greased.

Cover with warm damp towel.

Let rise in warm spot until double (2 hours).

Punch down. Let sit 15 minutes.

Roll out 10 inch x 16 inch x 1/2 inch thick.

Cut strips 10 inch long by 3/4 inch wide with pizza cutter.

Roll each strip into knot and place on lightly greased cookie sheet.

Tuck ends underneath.

Cover with damp towel.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Let rise until double.

Bake for 12 minutes until lightly browned.

While dough is rising on cookie sheet make icing.

Add zest to powdered sugar.

Then add thawed orange juice concentrate to sugar a tablespoon at time stirring hard; keep adding until

The mixture has consistency of frosting.

When rolls are a little cooled brush icing on with a pastry brush.
