"One of my favorite sandwiches, you can use smoked deli turkey or fresh cooked thinly sliced turkey the smoked will definately increase the flavor… The amounts listed are only a guideline all amounts may be adjusted to taste "

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Spread 2 slices of bread with Thousand Island salad dressing (use a as much aas you like).

Step 2

Layer with sliced turkey and saurkraut.

Step 3

Sprinkle black pepper over the saurkraut, then top with sliced cheese.

Step 4

Butter the outsides of the bread slices with soft butter.

Step 5

In a large skillet toast the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until lightly browned and the heated through (you may add in butter to the skillet if desired to help brown the bread).

Exactly how I make mine, the only difference being that I make them lower fat. I use fat free dressing, 2% cheese and Smart Balance Light. They are SO good. And just a tip, if you're making them for a crowd, line up the sandwiches on a jelly roll pan. You can fit 8, broil them under the broiler, turning when brown. Works great.
