Step by Step Method

Step 1

Brown turkey/chicken pieces in large oiled frying pan on both sides.

Step 2

Place veggies in a 4 qt slow cooker or large covered roasting pan; top with turkey pieces.

Step 3

In bowl, combine jam/preserves, maple syrup or honey, teriyaki sauce, ginger and cayenne; pour over turkey.

Step 4

FOR SLOW COOKER: cover and cook on low for 6 -8 hours or until turkey is tender.

Step 5

FOR OVEN METHOD: cover pan place in a 275F oven for 3 - 5 hours depending on your oven; or until turkey in tender.

Step 6

When turkey is done, remove turkey and veggies to a platter and keep warm.

Step 7

Transfer cooking liquid to a small saucepan and skim any fat; bring to a boil.

Step 8

Combine cornstarch and cold water and mix until smooth; gradually stir into pan.

Step 9

Bring to boil and stir constantly until thickened.

Step 10

Serve with turkey and veggies.

Five star all the way! I used chicken thighs, other than not having the full amount of maple syrup on hand had enough to add flavor.We are very fond of both yams and parsnips which made this extra special. Thank you this is so a repeatable. About ready for another go!
