"This spread is a traditional recipe that was used to make sandwiches that were served up as a midnight snack along with egg salad sandwiches, cheese trays and mixed pickle trays at wedding parties. All the ladies in the bride's family would get together the night before the wedding and make loaves and loaves of sandwiches and appetizer trays. I still make this spread and have reduced the recipe to a small batch and I use it for sandwiches or serve it on crackers."

This ham spread is a lovely change of pace for us. Made as directed but did add some heat (as we do). Served this on sour dough bread with grated cheese and a bowl of homemade soup. Sure was a delightful dinner! Thank you for sharing Bea!

I had some leftover ham, so this recipe came in handy. The only thing I made different was that I diced some sweet pickles because I was all out of relish. We enjoyed ham made this way and will be making this again. We had it as a filling for grilled cheese to go along with soup and it was very tasty. Thank you Bea for sharing. Made it for Pick Me Tag.

I baked 2 hams for Easter so we could have leftovers and cut the recipe in half so my boys could make some sandwiches. They loved it and so I have made note to make this when we have leftover ham. It's always nice to try new sandwich recipes because we kind of get sick of eating the same old ones all the time!
