"Pita chips and hummus are a staple in our house. This is the way I make pita chips for my family! I usually use Joseph's Flax, Oat Bran & Whole Wheat Pita Bread to make the chips -- but any pita bread should work. I have used both avocado oil and olive oil, but I think the chips made with the avocado oil are a little crispier, so I prefer that oil in this application."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 450°F degrees.

Step 2

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix oil, garlic powder, cayenne and seasoned salt.

Step 4

Place pita triangles in a bowl and pour seasoned oil over the pita triangles. Use your hands to toss the pita chips, rubbing the oil into each pita triangle.

Step 5

Place pita triangles on prepared baking sheet.

Step 6

Bake for 4-6 minutes, until slightly browned. (All ovens are different -- keep a watch on them to make sure they don't burn the first time you make them!)

Step 7

Remove from oven and let cool. Serve immediately or store in an air tight container.

Excellent pita chips! I used the thicker type of pita bread and we absolutely loved how they crisped up. The spices were a perfect combo. Love, love, love.

These are great!! I made loads of these to serve at a gathering. I served them up with hummus and salsa sauce and they were gobbled up in no time. I will be making these often.
