Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2

Mix together beef, 1/3 cup gingersnaps, onion, water, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.

Step 3

Shape mixture into 24 meatballs.

Step 4

Place on rack on baking pan and bake, uncovered, for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through.

Step 5

Mix sauce ingredients except raisins in a medium saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and comes to a boil.

Step 6

Stir in raisins and meatballs; heat through.

Tips


  • Serve over noodles, spaetzle, or mashed potatoes or keep warm in a crock pot as an appetizer for entertaining.

We enjoyed this way of doing meatballs. The sauce sets this apart from others. I forgot to count how many meatballs I got, but I guess it doesn't matter. We had ours with white rice. Thanks, Sue!

My German hubby loved this...I did too...I served it over fried spaetzle...and with my MIL's basic German salad...the hubby enjoyed it with buttered German Rye bread...he was in heaven...and he gave me a huge smile when I served him his beer...he's a happy camper...
