  • For the bread slices, choose a bread that is dense and thick for the best results.
  • For additional sweetness, try adding a tablespoon of brown sugar to the egg mixture.

  • Substitute coconut oil for butter - Coconut oil has a higher smoke point than butter, making it a healthier option for high heat cooking.
  • Substitute maple syrup for honey - Maple syrup is not only a healthier option than honey, but it also adds a subtle sweetness to the French toast that pairs nicely with the orange and cinnamon flavors.

This was a delicious French toast. Especially appreciated is how quick and easy it was to make. Next time I’m replacing some of the orange juice with grand marnier

We enjoyed the orange french toast -- I made 7 slices but I probably had some dipping orange/egg mixture for 3 more -- next time I will just use the whole mixture and a larger pan. Very good. Served with bacon. Thanks for sharing!

Wow - this is this best French Toast recipe ever! And it's nice that it's oven baked, too. But as simple as this is to make, it's remarkably delicious. The outside had a very slight crunch but the inside was so fluffy soft. I topped mine with extra honey (as the posting chef suggested), and I thought it was an excellent touch - a little sweetness that went will with the warm tone of the cinnamon. Mine was perfectly baked at 16 minutes (turning the dish once about halfway through, to get even browning). Thank you for sharing this recipe, Luvcookn.

Just made this for breakfast. Absolutely awesome! I especially love that it is made in the oven, because it's cold and rainy here this morning and it heated up the kitchen. Topped with butter and syrup made it an extra special breakfast for us! Saving to make again soon!
