Mushroom, Swiss, and Poppy Seed Stuffed Bread

"One of my favorite 'special stuffed' breads to serve with dinner. It is rich, decadent, full of flavor, and delicious. But don't switch out the ingredients - and do NOT use margarine in this recipe - It needs to be made as is. I first saw this on several blogs; but, was skeptical. Then saw it on another food site with great reviews, and a pic - that sold me. It looked so good; I had to try it. Well, it is definitely a keeper. And, it isn't hard to prepare; but, it does take a while to bake, so prepare in advance. This is rich, so go light on other side dishes. I have also served this as an appetizer as well; always a it."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Bread ... Cut the top of the bread, using a serrated knife, diagonally into 1" intervals, about 1-1 1/2" deep. Then, cut in the opposite direction to create a diamond or cross hatch pattern.
Step 2
Cheese and Mushrooms ... Stuff the cheese cubes and mushrooms slices in between the cuts of the bread. Make sure to stuff them in and much as you can.
Step 3
Sauce ... Add the butter, shallot, garlic, mustard, lemon juice, poppy seeds, seasoning salt, and pepper, to a small bowl or measuring cup; and, microwave at medium heat for 30 seconds intervals, until melted.
Step 4
Then, pour the mixture over the bread in all the cuts, where the mushrooms and cheese are; and make sure to brush some on top of the bread as well.
Step 5
Bake ... Wrap the loaf in foil, and bake at 350 degrees, middle shelf, for approximately 35-40 minutes. The bread should slightly crisp on the outside, and, the filling - completely melted.
Step 6
Serve and ENJOY! ... As I said, this is rich; so, I like to serve this with a nice salad, and maybe a grilled steak or roast chicken. Keep it simple! It is absolutely - delicious and addictive!
