"A cheap and tasty way to make your own Microwave Popcorn at home. I saw this on Good Eats years ago and have been making my own microwave popcorn ever since. I do lay a paper towel under the bag in the microwave because the bag does get oily."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Toss the popcorn with the oil in the paper bag.

Step 2

Fold the top of the bag over and staple the bag once in the middle. One staple will not arc in the microwave.

Step 3

Place the bag horizontally on a paper towel in the microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, or use the popcorn feature on your microwave.

Step 4

Remove bag from microwave and open carefully….the bag is hot! Pour popcorn into a bowl and add salt or seasoning to taste, if desired.

I have been making popcorn using this method for many years. It works great! Tip 1: Omit the oil. You'll never miss it. Tip 2: I use the "4 second method" when popping. You can just count 1 & 2 3 & 4. When the kernels are popping 4 secs. apart, your corn should be ready! Microwaves do vary, so you may want to adjust down 1, or up 1. A second or two with popcorn can burn the corn....just that quick.
