- When selecting lard, it is important to use a high-quality product to ensure a flavorful and creamy texture.
- It is best to use fresh onions for this recipe in order to achieve the best flavor.
- Instead of lard, you can use vegetable shortening for a similar creamy texture. Vegetable shortening is a healthier alternative to lard and is also flavorless, so it won't affect the taste of the dish.
- If fresh onions are unavailable, you can use dried onion flakes. Dried onion flakes are a convenient and shelf-stable alternative, and they will still provide a good flavor to the dish.
