  • 8 ounces dried pinto beans (soaked overnight)
  • 1 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup minced yellow onions
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons lard

How to Make

  • Step 1: Drain beans.

  • Step 2: Add all ingredients except lard to soup pot. Simmer 2 hours until beans are soft, stir more at end of cooking.

  • Step 3: Water should be almost boiled off, if not drain.

  • Step 4: Add lard and mash until creamy.
