"This is a sweet coffee drink, made with cajeta, a rich caramel sauce that is made from either goat or cow milk. It's similar to dulce de leche, but it has a more liquid consistency. You can find it in well-stocked supermarkets or in Mexican grocery stores. Cajeta is jst as versatile as caramel sauce, and it's delicious as a spread on cookies or drizzled over ice cream. -NOTE- I have a huge sweet tooth, you can adjust the sugar amount to your taste."

  • For the Mexican caramel sauce (cajeta), look for it in well-stocked supermarkets or in Mexican grocery stores.
  • The sugar amount can be adjusted to your taste, depending on how sweet you like your coffee.

  • Substitute the Mexican caramel sauce (cajeta) with maple syrup. This substitution will make the drink less sweet, but still provide a delicious flavor. Maple syrup is a healthier alternative to cajeta and is a great way to add sweetness to the coffee without using as much sugar.
  • Substitute the half-and-half with almond milk. Almond milk is a great dairy-free alternative that still provides a creamy texture to the coffee. It is also a healthier option, as it is lower in calories and fat than half-and-half.

Chocolate Caramel Coffee Replace the ground cinnamon with 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder and add 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup. Divide all ingredients equally in two mugs and enjoy!

Mocha Caramel Coffee Replace the ground cinnamon with 1 tablespoon of instant coffee granules and add 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup. Divide all ingredients equally in two mugs and enjoy!

Churros: Churros are deep-fried pastries that are popular in Latin American cuisine. They are usually rolled in sugar and cinnamon and served with a dipping sauce. They are a great accompaniment to Mexican Caramel Coffee because the sweet and crunchy texture of the churros complements the creamy, caramel-flavored coffee.

Mexican Fried Ice Cream: Mexican Fried Ice Cream is a delicious dessert that pairs perfectly with Mexican Caramel Coffee. It is made by coating a scoop of ice cream in a crunchy tortilla shell and deep-frying it until the shell is golden brown and crispy. The contrast between the cold ice cream and the warm, crunchy shell is a great complement to the creamy, caramel-flavored coffee.

Yum, I love sweet coffees and this lovely treat does not disappoint. Made as written but I used salted butter caramel in the coffee and butterscotch on top of the whipped cream. I loved the subtle flavor of the cinnamon mixing with the caramel. So very good. I couldn't find dulce de leche around here. Thank you for sharing this lovely coffee, that I will enjoy often. Made for Seaside Brasserie - 2020.
