Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Step 2

Oil yam lightly

Step 3

Put on a piece of tin foil

Step 4

Bake yam for 1 1/2 to 2 hours depending on size.

Step 5

When they are done, they will be very soft in the center, and you will see liquid from the potato oozing out and charring.

Step 6

When the potato is sliced open, the inside of the skin will be charred black from the caramelizing sugar in the potato.

Step 7

This is a perfectly cooked potato.

Step 8

To serve, slice a potato down the center. Add two tablespoons of whipped butter, salt then sprinkle some cinnamon/sugar over the top.

Daily Inspiration

We really enjoyed these sweet potatoes -- the cinnamon really adds a nice flavor and the little bit of sugar enhances the sweetness of the potatoes. These potatoes made a great addition to our meal tonight.
