Step by Step Method

Step 1

Drain canned tuna in small colander.

Step 2

Combine tuna with garlic, onion, salt and pepper, lemon juice and zest, egg, breadcrumbs, mayo, 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese and dried parsley in bowl; mix well.

Step 3

Combine remaining breadcrumbs and grated cheese in a shallow dish.

Step 4

Scoop 1/4 cup of tuna mixture, form into a patty and lightly coat with breading mixture.

Step 5

Fry cakes in pan with oil, until nicely browned on each side. Remove from pan and let rest for 5 minutes. Serve with spinach or other greens, additional lemon wedge or even simple aioli.

Step 6

*For baked cakes: Bake in 375 degrees F oven for about 18 to 20 minutes.

Very good tuna cakes which we enjoyed. Some put them on buns with cheese and some liked them just as they were. I used the baking option. Thanks for sharing!

I really liked these a lot. The lemon and lemon zest were great. I didn't think anything additional was needed as far as putting things on afterwards. My husband, on the other hand, did. He likes really hot things, though. A good meal for a couple people. Thanks for posting this one.
