Step by Step Method

Step 1

If you are using fresh garlic then rub onto the roast (you may use both the fresh and garlic powder if you are a lover of garlic).

Step 2

In a small bowl mix together seasoning salt, black pepper and 3 teaspoons garlic powder (if using) cumin, paprika, and cayenne, then using clean hands rub the roast well with the spices using pressure to make certain that the spices penetrate deep into the meat.

Step 3

Place the roast in a bowl, cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 24 hours or up to 3 days.

Step 4

Place the onions and bell pepper strips in the bottom of the crock pot, then place the roast over the onions and peppers.

Step 5

In a bowl mix together barbecue sauce and brown sugar, then pour over the roast.

Step 6

Cover and cook on low setting for 8-10 hours, or until the roast is cooked and tender.

Step 7

Transfer the roast to a cutting board.

Step 8

Pull pork into coarse shreds using 2 forks.

Step 9

Serve the pork on a bun or over cooked rice topped off with the sauce.

Winner!! I have been making a number of Pulled Pork recipes looking for a 'perfect' go to Pulled Pork for gatherings as well as freezer stash for summer weekends. Found it! Have to love the combination of the onions, green pepper and the spice mix, perfect for our tastes. Other then cutting back on the sugar as I have been doing for most recipes I made as posted. As one of your previous reviewers I used Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce with excellent results. Makes for the best ever Pulled Pork!

This makes the best tasting pulled pork! I can really appreciate doing it in the crock pot since it's been so hot here in the past few weeks. Didn't heat up the kitchen which is a godsend! I used Sweet N Spicy Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce with excellent results!

Thanks Kittencal for sharing this wonderful recipe that had everyone We loved this recipe for pulled pork. Made this for a group of people so had to make a few changes. I used a Pork Loin, cut it in half and baked it in the oven on low for 8-9 hours. The flavor was delicious and was enjoyed by all. Next time hope to make it in the crock pot. A recipe that will be in my keepers file. Thanks for sharing this new favorite.
