Step by Step Method

Step 1

Place warm water, 1/2 teaspoon sugar and yeast in mixer bowl- let sit 10 minutes until frothy.

Step 2

To the mixer bowl, add the warm milk, sugar, butter and salt, egg - whisk together.

Step 3

Using a dough hook, add the flour a little at a time until a soft dough is formed - knead until smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Place in a buttered bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let sit until doubled.

Step 5

Punch down, form into 8 balls, and place in buttered pan.

Step 6

Cover with plastic wrap and let rise again.

Step 7

Preheat the oven to 400F.

Step 8

Brush the rolls with the glaze and bake for 10-20 minutes, until golden.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and place on a rack and brush again with glaze.

Step 10

Let cool a bit but serve warm, with the honey butter

These are wonderful! Also I didn't have enough yeast (probably only used 1 teaspoon if that) and they rose beautifully! A bit sweet but that's okay -- if you don't like rolls that are sticky and sweet just use less honey. Also for the egg ingredient in the recipe I figured it was supposed to be 1 egg which is what we used. Thanks for sharing this keeper.
