"One of my favorite holiday drinks. This came from a Williams and Sonoma cookbook, or flyer I think; a couple of years ago. A delicious coffee to enjoy during the holiday season. You can garnish with ... a cinnamon stick, nutmeg, or chocolate shavings. But, the whipped cream is the best part! Prep does include time for the whipped cream to chill before whipping."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Whipped Cream Base ... Add the cream, sugar, and mulling spice to a small pot; and, bring to a light boil. As soon as it begins to boil, remove from the heat, and let it stand 10 minutes.

Step 2

Then, strain the cream mixture in a fine sieve, or you can use a double layer of cheese cloth in a colander; into a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate at least 1-2 hours, until well chilled.

Step 3

Coffee ... Brew your favorite coffee. I like a nice robust blend; but, you can use anything you enjoy.

Step 4

Whipped Cream ... As the coffee brews, make your whipped cream. Beat the whipped cream using a whisk, hand or stand mixer; until you get stiff peaks.

Step 5

Serve and ENJOY! ... Add 1 oz of the brandy and 1 teaspoon sugar to each coffee mug or cup; add the coffee, then mix to combine. I don't like mine too sweet, but add as much sugar as you like. Then, top with a "hefty" dollop of the 'mulled' whipped cream. Garnish with a little ground cinnamon or stick, nutmeg; or, your favorite chocolate shavings. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
