Ham & Swiss Penne
"The idea for this recipe came from " The Best of Country Cooking 2015 ". It was sent in to them by Donna Bailey from Orland, PA. I didn't have a lot of what she used and she did say that the cheese and veggies could be changed up.;) This is really great way to use up leftover ham & peas.this will easily serve 4 with salad and garlic bread. Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Step 2
Cook pasta according to package directions,drain and set aside.
Step 3
Over medium heat in a 3 quart sauce pan,melt butter and stir in flour until smooth.
Step 4
Then gradually add the milk and bring to a boil,cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
Step 5
Reduce heat add 1 cup of Swiss cheese, Parmesan cheese,garlic powder,and pepper.
Step 6
Cook and stir until cheese is melted (if the sauce seems a little thick,thin out w/desired amount of milk).
Step 7
Add pasta to sauce,mix well and stir in ham and peas.
Step 8
Pour into an 8 inch square pan which has been prepared with cooking spray.
Step 9
Top with remaining Swiss cheese and bake for 25 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
