"Frappe - Iced Coffee is one of the popular Greek drinks, especially in the warmer months. In the last 10 years as coffee shops around the world have become big business and are now doing iced coffee drinks, Greece was making Iced Coffees for years before. Frappe is a very popular drink among young Greeks, probably because of the price, who would all meet up at a local cafeneion for a couple of hours, slowly sipping their Frappes."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Put a couple of ice cubes in a tall glass.

Step 2

In a shaker, add the coffee and sugar and about 1-2 tablespoons of iced water.

Step 3

Shake vigorously until all is mixed and created a thick froth.

Step 4

Add a little more water - @ 2-4 tablespoons and shake again until well mixed and thick.

Step 5

Pour this into the glass.

Step 6

Add a little water into the shaker and swirl around to use any coffee still in the shaker and pour into the glass.

Step 7

Pour a little milk into the glass, to your liking.

Step 8

Top the glass up with iced water until the froth is to the top of the glass, but not overflowing.

Step 9

Use the straw to stir until just combined.

Step 10

Do not mix too much, you don't want to lose the froth.

Step 11

Enjoy.

I made this right before attending a board meeting, and I was bouncing off the walls. But boy, was it worth it! I absolutely love the thick, delicious, coffee foam. I started out with the ice filled glass, poured the milk in first, then the coffee/foam and mixed very lightly with a chopstick. So the drink looked beautifully layered and was a joy to drink! It's a bitterly cold day today and I loved the drink. Can't wait to try it on a hot summer day! Thanks for posting - it's a keeper!
