Step 1

Melt shortening and chocolate in a saucepan over low heat

Step 2

Add in remaining ingredients and stir well

Step 3

Beat until smooth

Step 4

Place saucepan of frosting in a bowl of ice and water, continuing to beat until it is of spreading consistency

Step 5

* If desired you can add 1/4 cup of finely chopped nuts
