George Washington Molasses Cherry Cake
"Washington was said to have liked this cake. I think it was a tribute cake from the 1950s for his birthday which they celebrated. He was actually born Feb 11 but they changed the calendar and he was moved to the 22. My mom Pat was born on the 11th also, interesting people. From 1976 Lincoln Nebraska cookbook. They called them candied cherries. I'm using maraschino cherry."
