Step by Step Method
Step 1
Boil the potatoes until fork-tender, then drain and return them to the pot.
Step 2
In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped scallions. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and slightly softened.

Mash the potatoes, adding the sautéed garlic, scallions, sour cream, half and half, and butter from the skillet.
Step 4
Season with salt and black pepper to taste, then stir until well combined.

Garnish with fresh parsley or chives, if desired, and serve hot.
