Step by Step Method

Step 1

Combine flour with brown sugar and salt; cut in butter. Set aside 1 cup mixture.

Step 2

Press crumb mixture in pan.

Step 3

Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Cool slightly.

Step 4

In saucepan sugar and cornstarch. Stir in undrained pineapple and egg yolks; cook over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture constantly and bubbles.

Step 5

Remove from heat then stir in cherries. Spread evenly over baked layer.

Step 6

Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture on top.

Step 7

Bake in 350 oven for 30 minutes more (this seems a long time to me ).

Step 8

Cool before cutting into bars

Step 9

Makes 2 1/2 dozen bars.
