"From Darlene Kossman, very old recipe, this cake is gingerbread like.very good, I went a little lighter on nutmeg and cloves and it was still spicy enough"

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar. Add cream or milk, add eggs.

Step 2

Sift dry ingredients. Add to wet mixture.

Step 3

Fold in cherries (batter will be loose, I used a cup of cherry pie filling ).

Step 4

Butter and flour cake pan (I pamed a 10 inch spring form pan ).

Step 5

Bake in 375 degree oven for 30 minutes or until done.

Wow, what a great recipe. This cake is wonderful. I made 1/2 the batter and got 4 small bundt cakes. The texture in this sweet spice cake is perfect. The spices are perfect. I used really nice candied cherries; they worked beautifully in the cake. Thank you for sharing a recipe that I will make again and again. Next time I will try it with fresh cherries.
