"This is a delicious caramel sauce. It makes a lot - if you have another use for 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk you may want to halve the recipe. I like this over ice cream and also use it in recipes calling for caramel sauce."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Mix sugar, syrup, and butter in a heavy sauce pan. Place over medium heat. When it comes to a boil stir constantly for 8 minutes.

Step 2

Remove from heat. Add water in 3 intervals, 1/4 cup at a time - stir well after each addition.

Step 3

Add sweetened condensed milk and stir until mixture is blended.

Step 4

Pour into sterilized pint canning jars (3), affix lids and store in refrigerator.
