"Oh it sounds good. Be a great recipe for breakfast as well as dessert! He describes it better than I could: "With fruit that good, you don't need to fuss, so my mother would merely combine seasoned sour cream with the berries under a brown sugar topping and pop it under the broiler. You can follow her lead, but only when the blackberries are perfect. Otherwise, substitute wild Maine blueberries and crème fraîche." from chef2chef"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Move broiler rack to lowest possible position, at least 6 inches from the top element, and turn on oven broiler.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, lime zest, sugar, and cinnamon. Gently fold in the blackberries, and transfer to small gratin dish. Sprinkle brown sugar on top. Broil until the brown sugar melts and darkens, 1 to 3 minutes, rotating the dish halfway through so it browns evenly but doe not burn. Serve hot.

This was delicious and enjoyed by 4 adults and 1 kid! Used lite sour cream, a little less lime zest and less brown sugar. It was still limey and sweet enough!

Daily Inspiration

Made this tasty dessert for DH last night and he loved it. The only change I made was to use blueberries vs. blackberries. This dessert was easy to make and the ingredients in the sour cream really complimented each other. Definitely a dessert I will make again.

This deserves more than five stars for any number of reasons, starting out with the simplicity! I made this in two small enameled stonewares - one with blackberries, and one with Florida blueberries from my freezer. OMG - so good! DH's fave was the blackberries, but mine was the blueberries. It was slightly reminiscent of a childhood treat where my mom would mix crushed strawberries with sour cream and sugar, but of course not broiled. All I can say is "WOW". Thanks for sharing!

KATO BABY

I love blackberries, this is a wonderful way to serve them. Quick, easy and delicious. The blackberries were sweet and flavorful, they mixed perfectly with the cinnamon, lime zest, brown sugar and sour cream. So very good. I can't wait to make this for my husband. A big thank you to Andie's husband for sharing this lovely dish. Made FYC tag game.
