I am going to boil green beans and potatoes, probably with some bacon. I make cornbread, and may not even bother with any kind of additional meat....yogurt with fresh cherries for dessert.

I love the boiled green beans and potatoes - that was a summer staple growing up. We always had a bit of corn it it and dill ( and bacon, country ham or ham hocks ).

I came home from vacation and ended up with a very nasty sinus infection. - So my second vacation week - which was to be a fun week of hiking, local beaches, time with my husband - ended up being me in bed with a swollen face, runny nose and lots of pain.

I am feeling better this AM -

I am thinking of making shrimp chowder for dinner, but want to see how I feel later. Boys are going to our beach house today - but there is no air conditioning and I am not sure I am up for beach time right now.

Morning,
Sorry, though I posted; but, apparently didn't.

Karen, Nothing worse then stuffy and trying to breath at the beach. NO fun. I hope you feel better.

I too love the green beans, spuds, and bacon. I grew up with that as well.
Mom used to make buttermilk biscuits with honey, the green beans - but, used fresh slab cut bacon; and, a bit salad from the garden. Whatever was in season. That was dinner.
Delicious!!

Today, I worked at 10 hr shift last night. Tired, but tons to do.

Ladies #1 and #2: A bit fancy game/card night. Grilled pesto lamb chops (new pesto recipe - http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/pista ... pesto.html); http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/creamy ... serole-469; citrus salad; mixed olives and baked chick peas to start

Me: I made 6 mini meat loafs a couple of months ago. I have 1/2 of one left in the freezer calling my name. I'm going to transform it into goulash by adding some fresh mushrooms, celery, onions, diced tomatoes, pasta; topped with cheese, and baked. On the side, a simple green salad.

Well, hey...now my posts are disappearing, too! I posted, saw it posted, walked away for a few minutes, refreshed the page, and POOF!

What I said was... Be careful, Church! They're likely to slap your hand for posting a link to another site that has recipes; they really frown on that here. It's why I don't post them any more, after having my hand slapped a couple of times.

My dinner tonight is a variation on #recipe5695, except I don't have anything green. I may add a can of sliced mushrooms to break up the brightness.

You're right felix. I did forget. I usually write my menu out; which I use the same wording on 4-5 sites. I leave the link in for some sites; here, I usually, just mention the site, and remove the link. I guess I should of had that second cuppa coffee, lol

Sausage and peppers are always good.

Maple glazed pork loin with cranberry apple stuffing, roasted rosemary and garlic potatoes, green beans with bacon and onions, homemade dinner rolls, and nectarine blueberry cobbler for dessert.

Morning!

Wolf ... that almost sounds like a nice fall meal. It sounds delicious!! Making me hungry.
Ellie, apple is the theme huh? Sounds delicious.
Felix, sausage and peppers, always good.

For me, last nights dinner ...
My friend called late yesterday and asked if I was free for dinner - of course! He came with fresh smoked fish and smoked onions (right off the smoker). Everything was still warm. He even brought the baguette, cheese, and sour cream.

We made crostini with the smoked chopped onions (I added some herbs), topped with gruyere cheese (melted of course).
Then, I made a smoked onion dip using the sour cream. Added some worcestershire, seasoning, fresh scallions; and served with crackers, celery, radishes (from my garden) and carrots.
I tossed greens, tomatoes and olives with a lemon vinaigrette
And, of course the smoked fish.
A bottle of wine; and called it dinner.
I was a happy gal!

Tonight's Dinner ...
Back to my goulash dinner.
And, I have just enough fish to make a small amount of fish dip for lunch tomorrow w/crackers.
