"This is my favourite grilled cheese courtesy of Canadian House and Home Magazine. It's baked so it's easy to make more than 1 at a time. The cheese oozes out of the sandwiches while baking and turns into a crunchy crust around the bread. Be sure to use a really good bread and slice it extra thick."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Place empty baking sheet in oven and preheat to 450°F.

Step 2

Slice bread into 3/4 inch slices and butter both sides (you should end up with 12 slices).

Step 3

Spread half the sliced bread with the Mango Chutney

Step 4

Slice the cheese 3/8 inch thick and place on remaining slices of buttered bread.

Step 5

Place bread slices with chutney over slices with cheese.

Step 6

Remove baking sheet from oven, place sandwiches on sheet, return to oven and bake 8 minutes or until golden on bottom.

Step 7

Use a spatula to gently press down on sandwiches then flip them over and bake another 8 minutes.

Step 8

Remove from oven, place sandwiches on cutting board, allow to cool for 3 to 4 minutes, then cut into halves or quarters.
