Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 loaf white bread or whole wheat bread, unsliced
  • Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup mango chutney
  • 1 1/2 pounds old Cheddar cheese, premium quality

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place empty baking sheet in oven and preheat to 450°F.

  • Step 2: Slice bread into 3/4 inch slices and butter both sides (you should end up with 12 slices).

  • Step 3: Spread half the sliced bread with the Mango Chutney

  • Step 4: Slice the cheese 3/8 inch thick and place on remaining slices of buttered bread.

  • Step 5: Place bread slices with chutney over slices with cheese.

  • Step 6: Remove baking sheet from oven, place sandwiches on sheet, return to oven and bake 8 minutes or until golden on bottom.

  • Step 7: Use a spatula to gently press down on sandwiches then flip them over and bake another 8 minutes.

  • Step 8: Remove from oven, place sandwiches on cutting board, allow to cool for 3 to 4 minutes, then cut into halves or quarters.
