"Grits are creamy, hot, soothing, and delicious with cheese, bacon, or a simple stirring in of butter and sugar. Grits have been and continue to be the South’s ultimate comfort food. The key to creamy delicious grits is to cook them low and slow. You can use the cheese or not, but if you decide not to use the cheese, don't use the Half and Half."

Down here in the south grits are a way of life and I usually get them when I go out to breakfast but I figured it was high time I made my own and went on the lookout for a recipe for them to have on hand. Thank you for posting this basic recipe for us Luv. They are delicious and really easy to make. I added cheese to ours and we had them with some thick sliced bacon and home made toast. Heartwarming and delicious!

Since I was the only one eating, I only made half the amount, and it was really good. I hate instant grits so this will sure come in handy since I lost the last recipe I had. I used cheese and the grits were nice and creamy and tasted delicious!

You have a winner! It's wonderful. I remember in 1979 going through Georgia and we stopped at a little place for breakfast. The waitress asked me if I wanted grits. I had no idea what those were so I tried them. I loved them then and this recipe does taste like I remember them. I did cut the recipe in half because it's just me that will eat them. I will be making this one more often! Thanks for posting!

Mmmm I saw this last night while browsing through the recipes and knew what I was having for breakfast this morning. I added Cheddar cheese and had some sausage with it. Creamy and delicious from the cheese and butter!
