"Mrs Johnson teamed up with Crisco at some point. She liked prune cake and used Crisco All Vegetable shortening. She used sour milk, I'm using buttermilk but you do you. This is a 2 layer cake with prune frosting."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a mixing bowl, cream shortening.
Step 2
Add sugar, cream and eggs, beat well.
Step 3
In another bowl, whisk (soft) dry ingredients.
Step 4
Add alternately with sour milk (buttermilk) to creamed mixture.
Step 5
Add chopped prunes.
Step 6
Bake in 2 waxed paper-lined 9 inch cake pans for 25 minutes at 350°F.
Frosting:
Step 7
Cream butter, add prune juice and lemon juice, salt, and cinnamon.
Step 8
Beat in powdered sugar gradually.
Step 9
Use to frost cooled cake.
