"This is the Mac n Cheese I ate growing up. I've tried fancier recipes but they just didn't tickle my comfort spot like Mom's did. This is fast, easy and comforting."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

In medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add salt and macaroni. Lower heat and simmer until macaroni is barely tender. Drain and return macaroni to pan.

Step 2

Over low heat. Add milk start with 1/4 cup, and Velveeta to macaroni. Heat until Velveeta is melted. Add additional milk if you want a thinner sauce. Serve.

Step 3

For variety add 1/4 cup chopped jalapeno peppers or tomatoes.

Made this as given, although I did leave out step 3, & you definitely have a nice ol' fashion comfort food, pretty much as I remember my own mother making it! Thanks for sharing the recipe, & the finished mac & cheese was shared with a housebound neighbor couple who love the stuff, & for whom I sometimes cook & bake!
