"This is my nephews turkey stuffing that is enjoyed at his house when celebrating the Holidays. This stuffing (also known as dressing) is delicious! According to my nephew the recipe was originated from a Good Morning America/Emeril Legasse top contest winner stuffing recipe submitted by Hollie Dorethy from Texas. She combined her Southern way of cooking with her husbands Italian roots. Many different recipes were submitted, but this particular one is what swooned the judges. It is a marvelous tasting stuffing!"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Heat oil in large skillet on medium. Sauté pancetta for 2 minutes.

Step 2

Add onion and celery and cook until translucent. Add garlic and cook another 3 minutes.

Step 3

Mix together breads and 3/4 cup toasted pine nuts in a large mixing bowl. Add cheeses and cooked sausage to the breads. Mix together with the dried seasonings.

Step 4

Add sautéed veggies with any pan drippings.

Step 5

Slowly add broth and stir until mixed thoroughly. The consistency should not be soupy, but very moist. If not, add more broth.

Step 6

Test for saltiness and add a dash more if needed.

Step 7

Place in an extra deep 9-inch-by-13-inch greased pan.

Step 8

Dot the top with the cubed butter and cover with foil. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes.

Step 9

Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes or until slightly crusted on the edges.

Step 10

Top with remaining toasted pine nuts and chopped fresh sage. Add shaved cheese just before serving.

NOTE: We've enjoyed this stuffing (aka: dressing) both stuffed inside the turkey and baked separately as instructed in the method above.

I normally don't put sausage in my dressing at Thanksgiving, but a few years ago my daughter went into labor the night before Thanksgiving and before driving to be with her, I went out and purchased pre-made stuff so my son would still have Thanksgiving. The dressing had sausage in it. He loved it and I have been trying to find one that had sausage and no mushrooms for quite a while. This fit the bill. Loved it! I've always used more cornbread but this was delicious and a nice change from what we usually have. Thanks for sharing!

Stuffed my turkey with this stuffing and we were pleasantly surprised with the results. Loved the flavor! I used Canadian bacon in ours!

This is a very flavorful and different version of stuffing than the usual corn bread dressing we usually make. We all enjoyed the various flavors. I used sourdough French bread and homemade cornbread. I made 1/2 a batch so we halved everything. I would definitely use the lowest amount of chicken broth. We used the highest amount and it was too watery so I added extra corn bread.
