"Throw all the ingredients in the crock pot the night before, or in the morning before you go to work and it's ready when you get home. If you want a little more heat, use Jalapeno peppers. DO NOT add any additional water to this. Your roast will be tender and delicious and will make its own gravy. Serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Spray your crock pot with non-stick cooking spray (It makes cleanup so much easier).

Step 2

Place the roast in the crock pot and sprinkle with a little black pepper and a little seasoned salt.

Step 3

Sprinkle the top with the Ranch Dressing Mix and the Au Jus Mix.

Step 4

Place Jalapeno peppers or pepper rings on top of mixes (The pepper rings disintegrate in the cooking process, and just become part of the gravy). Don't leave the peppers out because they really add a lot of flavor (If you don't use too many, they don't even add noticeable heat, just flavor).

Step 5

Add butter on top (The butter is what makes the gravy so good). Set your crock pot to 8 hours on low.

We incorporated this beef dish into French Dip Sandwiches and brother, did they come out dynamite! So that we could get plenty of gravy to dip the sammies into, changed it up a bit by adding about a cup or so of water and some pepperoncini liquid to the crockpot. Because we added liquid, added a packet of brown gravy mix in addition to a packet of Au-Jus to make sure we got that beefy flavor. Also, removed the animal fat from the gravy and added half the butter to the finished gravy, but to be honest, the butter wasn’t necessary imho because the gravy already had so much flavor. Thank you, ILuv2Kook, for sharing. Made it for Best of 2023, as recommended by WhatamIgonnaeatnext?

Delicious super easy pot roast. I used a brisket and added mushrooms and onions. I also used an orange bell pepper. Amazing flavor combo. I served it with left over mashed potatoes from Thanksgiving. True comfort food! Made for Billboard tag.

Great roast that had a very tasty gravy. We love the zippy flavor the peppers added to the roast and gravy. I will make this frequently because my family went bonkers when they tasted it! I served mashed potatoes and carrots with it.
