"Create your holiday memories with this hot drink while putting up your holiday decorations. Put a kettle of water on to boil, put a shot or two of light rum in each mug, a heaping spoon or two of batter, garnish your way and your off to a wonderful warm start to your making your memories! I received this recipe from my mother in law several years ago and this was the first time I had ever tasted Hot Buttered Rum. It was a tradition in their family every year and has became one in ours too. Use only real butter. There was some debate as to rather or not this recipe is alcohol free. It is unless you add the rum...hence the with or without. Please use caution around children and with medications and don't drink and drive."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Melt butter and add spices.
Step 2
Add brown sugar and mix.
Step 3
Add eggs and mix well.
Step 4
Beat for 20 to 30 minutes.
Step 5
YOU ARE ONLY ADDING THE RUM LIQUOR OR EXTRACT TO THE MUGS NOT THE MIX.
Step 6
Store in refrigerator.
Step 7
TO MAKE: For Each Mug add:. 1 Shot good quality Rum OR use 2 teaspoons rum extract.

1 Heaping TBSP batter mix or more if you like. (I use large mugs and 2 heaping spoonfuls.)
Step 9
Fill with hot water and mix well.
Step 10
Keeps very well in the freezer. Just thaw before use.
